Built for publishers, not adapted from generic ERP.

Wafi for Book Publishers runs titles and editions, print runs, retail counters, online orders and royalty on a single ledger. A sale at the counter moves stock, posts to accounts and accrues royalty in one step.

Royalty walkthrough

How one sale becomes an author statement

Royalty terms sit on the contract

Each author agreement carries its rate, the titles it covers and any advance already paid. A different rate for a paperback edition is a separate line, not a separate spreadsheet.

A sale is recorded once

At the counter, on the website, or on a wholesale invoice. The line knows the title, the edition and the price it actually sold at.

Royalty accrues on that line

The system applies the contract rate at the moment of sale, so accrued royalty is always current rather than calculated at month end.

Advances draw down automatically

Where an advance exists, accrual offsets it first. The balance is visible to both your finance team and the author.

Statements are bookwise, on demand

Every author has a statement per title and per edition, with ageing. Your team does not assemble it — it already exists.

Authors request payment in the portal

The request arrives with the statement attached to it. Settlement posts to the ledger and the history stays on the author record.

Sales & billing

One invoice screen for counters and distributors

Whether the sale is a single copy at the counter or two hundred to a distributor, it is entered once, on the same screen, against the same catalogue.

Keyboard and barcode firstScan or search by title or ISBN, add rows and submit without leaving the keyboard.
Trade discount per buyerDealer, distributor and retail price lists apply themselves — no manual discounting per line.
Multiple counters and outletsEach counter has its own session and cash reconciliation, reporting into one set of books.
Returns handled properlyA sales return reverses stock, accounting and accrued royalty together.
Accounts

Every sale, print bill and royalty in one ledger

Counter cash, marketplace settlements, paper suppliers, press payments and author payouts all post to the same books. Nothing is re-keyed into accounts at month end.

Posted from the source documentAn invoice, a payment voucher or a print work order writes its own entry, with the voucher still attached.
Bank reconciliation you can finishReceipts, cheques and online settlements matched against the statement, with the unmatched few left visible.
Cost per copy stays livePaper, plates, binding and subcontracted press work sit on the print run, so the per-copy figure is current before you set the cover price.
Statements without assemblyP&L, receivables ageing and title-wise profitability read from the same entries your team already made.

Got questions?

We've got answers.

No. Titles, editions, reprints, royalty rates and author statements are first-class records, not custom fields bolted onto a product table. That is the difference that decides whether royalty works.

Yes. It is a Wafi Solutions product used by publishers internationally. Currency, tax treatment, payment gateways and courier partners are configured per deployment.

Not necessarily. Publishers usually start with the modules where the pain is — typically royalty and stock — and move the storefront or counters later. Integrations exist for accounting, gateways and couriers if you intend to keep something in place.

They are migrated: titles, editions, stock positions, author contracts and opening balances, including royalty already accrued or advanced. We reconcile against your current figures before go-live.

No. An author signs in and sees their own titles, sales, statements and payment status. Most publishers find the volume of statement requests to their finance team drops to almost nothing.

It depends on the modules you switch on, the number of counters and outlets, and whether the storefront is part of the scope. Tell us how your business runs and we will come back with a figure.
